Janesville man pleads not guilty to a weapon charge

Janesville, Iowa – A Janesville man has pleaded not guilty to weapons charges.

The Bremer County sheriff’s office arrested 22 year old Dakota John Hewitt on January 21st on a misdemeanor charge of carrying weapons after he allegedly shot out the window of his mobile home at 407 W. Third Street while 2 other people were inside.

Deputies found Hewitt inside a vehicle with a loaded Mossberg .410 shotgun, while deputies also seized a loaded .22-caliber Heritage revolver found inside the home.

Hewitt’s attorney filed a written not guilty plea on March 9th and his trial was tentatively set for May 4th in Bremer County District Court.
