In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull last night, the New Hampton Chickasaw boys basketball team was in Charles City for a Class 2A District 4 Final against Osage. The game started slow for New Hampton as they found themselves in a 25-14 hole at halftime. The Chickasaw turned it on in the third quarter and they were able to tie it at 33 heading into the fourth quarter. With about three minutes remaining New Hampton had the ball and they were down by three. The Chickasaws would turn the ball over on back-to-back possessions and the Green Devils were able to score off of both of those turnovers and went on to win the game 51-42. Jake Zwanziger had 13 points to lead New Hampton and Zach Wemark had 11 as the Chickasaws finish their season with a record of 15-9. New Hampton’s basketball program says good-bye to three seniors as Wemark, Zach Heying and Mike Drewelow played in their final game last night.
Peter Jok scored 35 points, including Iowa’s first 11 points of overtime in a 96-90 win over Indiana as the Hawkeyes snapped a three game losing skid. Jok finished 22 of 23 at the foul line as the teams combined to commit 57 fouls. The Hawkeyes are 7-8 in the Big Ten.
