The New Hampton Chickasaw wrestling team was in Waukon Saturday competing in the Northeast Iowa Conference wrestling tournament and you heard it here on 951 The Bull.  The Chickasaws finished the day with 227.5 team points which put them in second place as a team.  They ended the day 11.5 points behind Waverly-Shell Rock who won the tournament for the 13th year in a row.  Michael Millage at 126, Noah Fye at 132, and Keaton Geerts at 138 were crowned NEIC champions and Dylan Robinson at 106, Mason Cleveland at 113, Ryan Gorman at 160, Noah Glaser at 170 and Areon Day at 195 were conference runner-ups.  The New Hampton wrestlers will now focus their attention on their Sectional Tournament which will be held in New Hampton this Saturday.

In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull on Friday night, the New Hampton Chickasaw girls basketball team was at home for a Northeast Iowa Conference game against Decorah.  Darian Wegner had 17 points to lead the Chickasaws to a 58-35 win.  The Chickasaw girls were also able to defeat South Winneshiek at home on Saturday in non-conference play.  Wegner again led New Hampton in scoring as she finished with 15 points as the Chickasaws won the game 53-36.  The New Hampton girls basketball team is now 12-5 overall this season and they are 6-2 in the NEIC.  They will return to action tomorrow night against Crestwood.

The New Hampton Chickasaw boys basketball team was at Decorah on Friday night for a Northeast Iowa Conference tilt against Decorah.  New Hampton scored 32 points in the fourth quarter to come back and win 66-62.  Keagan John had 18 points for the Chickasaws, Tristan Sweitzer had 16 and Zach Wemark had 14.  The New Hampton boys are now 8-7 overall this season and they improve to 4-3 in the NEIC.  They will play again tomorrow at Cresco.

The Nashua-Plainfield, wrestling team was in Forest City on Saturday competing in the Top of Iowa Conference tournament.  Nashua finished in ninth place as a team Tristan Brase was the lone Husky conference champion as he won the bracket at 132 pounds.  Nashua will host a Sectional Tournament this Saturday.

The Nashua-Plainfield girls and boys basketball teams hosted Osage on Friday night in a Top of Iowa Conference double header.  In the girls game, Osage dominated from start to finish in route to a 82-39 win.  Brittney Holthaus and Sierra Fisher each had 11 points for the Huskies.  The Nashua girls were also beaten on Saturday by Garner-Hayfield-Ventura by a final score of 61-54.  The Husky girls are 2-15 overall this season and 1-12 in conference play.  They will be in action again tonight at home against Clarksville. In the Nashua vs. Osage boys game, the Green Devils defeated the Husky boys 59-37.  Hansen led Nashua’s boys with 10 points.  The Nashua boys were then defeated on Saturday by Garner-Hayfield-Ventura by a final score of 76-23 as they fall to 5-11 overall this season and they have a conference record of 4-9.  The Husky boys will host Clarksville tonight.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar wrestling team competed in the North Iowa Cedar League wrestling tournament on Saturday.  The Cougar finished with a team score of 140.5 which put them in fifth place.  Karsen Seehase at 160 pounds and Bodie Garneir at 182 were the NICL champions for the Cougars and Brady Wilkinson at 106 and Brock Meyer at 195 each finished in 3rd place for Sumner-Fred.  The Cougar wrestling team will be in action on Saturday at their Sectional Tournament.
