951 The Bull Sports Report (1/6)

In a couple of matches heard right here on 951 The Bull last night, the New Hampton Chickasaw wrestling team was in Waverly for Northeast Iowa Conference duals against the Go-Hawks and Crestwood.  In the first match against the Cadets, the Chickasaws were able to win rather easily as they won the dual by a final score of 70-6.  In the second match, New Hampton was able to edge the Go-Hawks 34-31 to improve to 15-2 overall in dual meets and they move to 5-0 in NEIC duals.  The Chickasaw grapplers will be in action again tomorrow as they get ready to host the New Hampton invite.

The Nashua-Plainfield wrestling team went 2-1 in a quadrangular meet hosted by West Fork.  The Huskies beat the War-Hawks 60-24, and they were 57-18 winners over Clarksville.  Nashua’s loss came at the hands of Osage by a final score of 48-31.  The Husky wrestlers will be in action again tomorrow as they will take part in a tournament hosted by Denver-Tripoli.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar girls team was in Grundy Center last night for a North Iowa Cedar League match-up.  Grundy Center took the lead early and the Cougars were never able to recover as Sumner-Fred lost the game 46-37.  The Cougar girls are now 8-2 overall this season and will be in action again tonight at Waterloo Columbus.

The South Winneshiek Warrior girls and boys basketball teams hosted Decorah last night in a non-conference double-header.  The Warrior girls fell to the Vikings 44-34 and the South Winn boys were beaten 87-63.  The South Winneshiek girls and boys basketball teams will play again tonight in an Upper Iowa Conference double-header at Starmont.

The New Hampton Chickasaw girls basketball team will host Oelwein tonight for a Northeast Iowa Conference match-up.  The Chickasaw girls come in with an overall record of 6-2 and they are 2-1 in the NEIC while the Oelwein girls are 2-6 and 2-2.  You can tune into this game right here on 951 The Bull starting with a pregame at about 7:30 and tip-off is scheduled for around 7:45.

The New Hampton Chickasaw boys basketball team will be at Oelwein tonight for their Northeast Iowa Conference game.  The New Hampton boys are 2-4 overall this season and they will be looking for their first NEIC win as they sit at 0-2.  The Oelwein boys are 1-7 overall this season and they come in winless in the NEIC as well with a record of 0-3.  Tip-off for this one will be at about 7:45.

The Nashua-Plainfield girls and boys basketball teams will be in Top of Iowa Conference action tonight as both teams will play at West Fork.  The Nashua girls are 2-7 overall this season and 1-6 in conference play while West Fork’s girls are 6-2 and 5-1.  The Husky boys come in with an overall record of 3-5 and they are 2-4 in the conference and the War-Hawk boys are 6-2 and 5-1.  The girls will tip-off first at about 6:15 and the boys game will follow.

The Turkey Valley Trojan girls and boys basketball teams will host North Fayette Valley tonight in an Upper Iowa Conference double-header.  The Trojan girls come in unbeaten as they are 10-0 overall and come in with a conference record of 8-0 while the Tiger-Hawk girls are 5-3 and 3-2.  The Turkey Valley boys are 7-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play while North Fayette’s boys are 4-4 and 4-2.  Tip-off for the girls game will be at about 6:15 and the boys will tip at about 7:30.
