951 The Bull Sports Report (12/16)

In a couple of matches heard right here on 951 The Bull last night, the New Hampton Chickasaw wrestling team was in Charles City for a triangular meet with the Comets and North Fayette Valley.  The first match was a Northeast Iowa Conference dual against Charles City and the Chickasaws had little trouble as they won 10 of the 14 matches for a 57-15 win.  In the second match, New Hampton won 11 out of the 14 matches and won the dual 63-12.  With the two wins, New Hampton’s grapplers improve to 5-0 overall in dual meets and they improve to 3-0 in NEIC duals.  The Chickasaws will be back in action today as they will participate in the two day event that is the Battle of Waterloo.

The Turkey Valley Trojan girls and boys basketball teams were able to sweep Tripoli last night in a non-conference home double-header.  In the girls game, Turkey Valley had little trouble and were able to come away with a 58-36.  The win keeps the Trojan girls’ record flawless as they move to 7-0 on the season.  The Trojan boys were also able to win rather easily over Tripoli as the final score was 51-35.  The Turkey Valley boys are now 6-2 on the season.  The Turkey Valley boys and girls basketball team will be in action again tonight as they host an Upper Iowa Conference double-header against Edgewood-Colesburg.

Weather permitting, it will be a busy night for our area winter sports teams.  The New Hampton Chickasaw boys basketball team will be at home tonight for a Northeast Iowa Conference match-up with Decorah.  The Chickasaw boys are 1-3 overall this season and they have an NEIC record of 0-1 while Decorah’s boys are 2-2 and 1-1.  You can tune into this game right here on 951 The Bull starting with a pregame at about 7:30 with tip-off scheduled for 7:45.

The New Hampton Chickasaw girls basketball team will travel to Decorah for their Northeast Iowa Conference match-up.  New Hampton’s girls are 4-2 overall this season and 2-1 in NEIC play while Decorah will come in at 0-7 and 0-3.  Tip-off for this game will be at about 7:30.

The Osage Green Devil boys and girls basketball teams will host Nashua-Plainfield tonight in a Top of Iowa Conference double-header.  The Osage girls are a perfect 5-0 overall this season and they are 4-0 in the conference while the Nashua girls are 1-6 and 1-4.  The Green Devil boys also come in with a perfect 5-0 record and have a conference record of 4-0 while the Husky boys are 2-4 and 2-3.  The girls game will tip-off at about 6:15 with the boys game to follow.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar girls and boys basketball teams will be in Grundy Center tonight for a North Iowa Cedar League Varsity double-header.  The Cougar girls come in with an overall record of 6-1 and they are 5-1 in NICL play while Grundy Center’s girls are 4-2 and 3-1.  Sumner-Fred’s boys will be looking for their first win tonight as they come in with an overall record of 0-4 and they are also 0-4 in the conference.  Grundy Center’s boys come in at 0-4 overall as well and they are 0-3 in the NICL.  The girls game will tip-off first at about 5:30 with the boys game to follow.

The South Winneshiek Warrior girls and boys basketball teams will be on the road tonight for Upper Iowa Conference match-up with Kee High.  The Warrior girls will come in tonight looking for their first win of the year as they are 0-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play while Kee High is 4-1 and 3-1.  The South Winn boys are 1-4 overall this season and are 1-3 in the Upper Iowa Conference and Kee’s boys are 1-5 and 1-4.  The girls game will be played first and tip-off at about 6:15 and they boys game will start after the girls game is over.
