Osage, Iowa (AP) – A man convicted of first-degree kidnapping in the beating and imprisonment of a woman has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

23-year-old Nicholas Lenz was sentenced to the mandatory life term Tuesday in Mitchell County District Court.

A jury in October found Lenz guilty of first-degree kidnapping and assault causing serious injury.

Prosecutors say Lenz had been involved with the woman, but attacked her when she told him to leave her home in March. Police say he held her against her will for two days, taping her to a chair, punching and kicking her and threatening her with a gun.
