951 The Bull Sports Report (12/2)

The New Hampton Chickasaw boys basketball team had their second game of the season last night at Mason City and it was the second game that they jumped up two classes to take on a 4A school.  The Mohawks had too much fire power on offense and too much pressure on defense for New Hampton as the Chickasaws went down 79-46.  The New Hampton boys basketball team opens up the season at 0-2 and will not play again until next Saturday.

The South Winneshiek boys and girls basketball teams opened up their seasons last night on the road at Crestwood.  The Cadets were able to win both games rather easily as they beat the Warrior boys 61-28 and defeated the South Winn girls 66-24.  Both Warrior teams will be back in action tonight as they open up Upper Iowa Conference play at home against MFL-Mar-Mac.  The girls will tip-off at 6:15 with the boys game to follow.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky wrestling team went 1-2 last night at a quadrangular meet hosted by North Butler.  The Huskies were able to beat the Bearcats 39-36 and lost to Mason City Newman 60-24 and were defeated by Crestwood 75-6.  The Nashua wrestling team will be in action again tomorrow at the Wapsie Valley tournament.

There will be plenty of action tonight for our local winter sports teams.  The New Hampton Chickasaw girls basketball team will be in Northeast Iowa Conference play at home against Waukon.  The Chickasaw girls are 2-0 this season while the Indians are 0-1.  This will be the first conference game for each team.  Tip-off is scheduled for about 7:30.

The Nashua-Plainfield girls and boys basketball teams will be on the road tonight for Top of Iowa Conference match-ups.  The two Husky squads will take on Northwood-Kensett.  The Nashua girls are 0-2 overall this season and 0-1 in the conference while Northwood’s girls come in at 1-1 and 0-1.  The Husky boys are 0-1 overall and in conference play and the Vikings also sit at 0-1 overall and in the conference.  The Varsity girls will tip-off at about 6:15 with the boys game to follow.

The Turkey Valley girls and boys basketball teams will be at home tonight for an Upper Iowa Conference double-header against Central Elkader.  The Trojan girls are 1-0 this season while Central comes in at 2-1.  Turkey Valley’s boys are 1-0 this season and the Central boys are an identical 1-0 so far this season.  Tip-off for the girls game is scheduled for 6:15 with the boys game to follow.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar girls and boys basketball teams will be in North Iowa Cedar League action tonight as they will play at Denver.  The Cougar girls are 1-1 this season and 0-1 in the conference while Denver’s girls are 1-0.  This will be the first game of the season for both the Sumner-Fred and Cyclone boys.  The girls game will tip-off at about 6:30 with the boys game to follow.
