The New Hampton Chickasaw wrestling team had a great showing over the weekend at a tournament hosted by South Winn.  The Chickasaws ran away with the team title as they finished in first out of the ten teams.  The New Hampton wrestling team will now get ready for a Northeast Iowa Conference dual at Charles City on Thursday.

The Nashua-Plainfield boys basketball team was able to pick up a Top of Iowa Conference win on Friday night as they took care of Central Springs 61-42.  The Husky boys basketball team is now 2-3 overall and they move to 2-2 in conference play.  They will be in conference action again tonight as they will host Saint Ansgar.

The Nashua-Plainfield girls basketball team suffered another loss on Friday night as they hosted Central Springs in Top of Iowa Conference action.  The Huskies fell 66-30 to fall to 0-6 on the season and they are now 0-4 in conference games.  The Husky girls will be looking for that first win tonight when they host Saint Ansgar.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar girls basketball team was at home on Friday night taking on Jesup in North Iowa Cedar League action.  The Cougars were able to win in a low scoring affair 36-31.  Jadlin Seehase had 11 points to lead Sumner-Fred and Krayton Allen added ten.  The Cougar girls improve to 5-1 overall this season and they move to 4-1 in the NICL.  They will next be in action tomorrow night at Hudson.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar boys basketball team suffered a loss on Friday night at the hands of Jesup in North Iowa Cedar League action.  The Cougars lost the game by a final score of 63-36.  Trevor Wurzer led the Cougars with 12 points as they fall to 0-3 overall and in the NICL.  Sumner-Fred’s boys will also be in action tomorrow night at Hudson.

The South Winneshiek Warrior boys basketball team got their first victory of the year on Friday night as they took down Clayton Ridge in Upper Iowa Conference action 56-41.  Nathan Ward led three Warriors in double figures with 14 points, Joel Hanson had 13 and Levi Lukes added 10.  The South Winn boys basketball team is now 1-3 overall this season and they improve to 1-2 in the conference.  The Warriors will host Edgewood-Colesburg tomorrow night for their next competition.

The South Winneshiek girls basketball team could not get that first win of the season on Friday night as they fell to Clayton Ridge 50-30.  The South Winn girls are now 0-4 on the year overall and they drop to 0-3 in Upper Iowa Conference games.  They’ll try and get that first win tomorrow night at home against Edgewood-Colesburg.

The New Hampton Chickasaw boys basketball team will host Turkey Valley tonight in non-conference action.  The Chickasaws come in with a record of 0-2 while the Trojans are 4-1.  You can tune into this game right here on 951 The Bull starting with a pregame at about 7:30 with tip-off scheduled for 7:45.
