Simply Essentials to open in early December; proposes purchase of section of Main Street

Charles City, Iowa – Charles City administrator Steve Diers stopped by KCHA Studios to give an update on Simply Essentials, which is set to start production in early December.

Diers talked about the current proposal the chicken plant pitched to the city council, saying they are interested in purchasing a portion of Main Street in Charles City.

Diers said even now the plant has said they are looking to expand.

Diers said the City Council discussed the issue and is willing to take a look at the issue further.

Diers said there are several factors to consider with the possible purchase.

Diers said traffic flow and pedestrian traffic has already posed a problem and will be further complicated with the official opening of the plant.

Diers said initial steps have been taken to help with safety at the intersection near Simply Essentials.

Simply Essentials is set to open the first part of December.
