Des Moines, Iowa – RadioIowa – October continued a run of warmer than normal months in the state that now dates back more than one year.  State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says the statewide average temperature was 55-point-three degrees, or four-and-half degrees above average.

Hillaker says September of 2015 started a string of months that have been mostly warmer than normal.

Hillaker says it took until October 13th for the state to see its first hard freeze.

Hillaker for areas of the state that saw a lot of rain in September, October gave them some relief.

Hillaker says rainfall statewide averaged 54-one-hundreths below normal in October at two and seven one-hundreths of an inch.
