The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar volleyball team hosted Bellevue last night in a Class 2A Region 7 Semifinal last night against Bellevue.  The Cougars were able to dominate last night’s match as they won three games to none by scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-12.  Jadlin Seehase led the Cougar offense as she finished the night with 20 kills, Jenna Brandt had 38 assists and as a team Sumner-Fred was 69-73 serving with eight aces.  The Cougars improve to 32-5 on the season and they will play Tuesday night in the Regional Finals against West Branch.

The South Winneshiek Warrior volleyball team was at Lake Mills last night for their Class 2A Region 6 Semifinals.  The Warriors were unable to hand Lake Mills their first loss of the season as they were beaten three games to none by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-12.  South Winn volleyball finishes their season with a record of 16-23.

The first round of the Iowa High School Football Playoffs begins tonight with first round games in all classes.  The New Hampton Chickasaw football team will pay a visit to top-ranked North Fayette Valley tonight in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.  New Hampton went 8-1 during the regular season and are ranked fifth in Class 2A according to Radio Iowa.  North Fayette Valley is undefeated at 9-0 so far this year.  You can tune into this game right here on 951 The Bull.  The broadcast will start at 6:30 with a pregame and kickoff is at 7pm.

The Turkey Valley Trojan football team will host Don Bosco tonight in the first round of the 8-man playoffs.  The Trojans are ranked second in the state and went 9-0 during the regular season while Don Bosco is ranked fourth and come in with a record of 8-1.  This match-up will feature the two highest ranked teams going against each other in the first round in all classes.  Kickoff will be at 7pm.

The South Winneshiek Warrior football team will be on the road for their first round playoff game in Class 1A.  The Warriors will travel to Bellevue to take on the eighth ranked team in Class 1A.  South Winn finished the regular season with a record of 7-2 while Bellevue is undefeated at 9-0.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union will hold their State Cross Country Meet tomorrow in Fort Dodge.  Sophomore Nolan Usher will be New Hampton’s lone representative tomorrow as he will run in the Class 2A boys meet which is scheduled to start at 1:30.  The South Winneshiek girls and boys teams qualified their entire team at last week’s State Qualifying Meet.  The South Winn girls will compete in the Class 2A meet which will begin at 1pm and the South Winn boys will join Usher in the Class 2A meet at 1:30.  Sumner-Fredericksburg’s Ivy Hirsch will represent the Cougars at the State Meet tomorrow as she will run in the Class 1A girls meet which is scheduled to start at 2pm.
