951 The Bull Sports Report (10/14)

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky volleyball team was in Dunkerton last night for a non-conference match.  The Huskies were in three close games, but lost them all as they were swept three games to none.  Scores were 25-22, 25-18 and 25-19.  Nashua finishes their regular season with a record of 5-19.  The Huskies will now get ready for their Class 2A Regional game against Saint Ansgar which will be held on Tuesday night.

The Turkey Valley Trojan volleyball team was in Rockford last night for a triangular meet.  The Trojans went 1-2 in their three matches as they beat Valley Lutheran two games to none by scores of 25-16 and 25-14.  Turkey Valley was swept by Rockford two games to none by scores of 25-10 and 27-25 and they lost to Belmond-Klemme two games to one.  The Trojans finish their regular season with a record of 7-18 and they will participate in the Upper Iowa Conference Tournament tomorrow hosted by West Central.

It’s hard to fathom, but Week 8 of the Iowa High School football season will take place tonight.  The New Hampton Chickasaw football team will be in their biggest game of the season tonight as they will be on the road to face Garner-Hayfield-Ventura.  The winner of tonight’s game will increase the chances of making the playoffs dramatically.  The sixth-ranked Chickasaws come in with an overall record of 6-1 and they are 4-1 in Class 2A District 2 while Garner is 5-2 and 3-2.  You can tune into this game right here on 951 The Bull starting with a pregame at 7pm and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky football team will be at home tonight for their Class A District 3 game against Mason City Newman Catholic.  The Huskies are 3-4 overall and come in at 2-3 in District play while Newman is 4-3 overall and also 2-3 in the District.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.

The Turkey Valley Trojan football team will look to stay unbeaten tonight as they will be in an 8-man District 2 road contest against Clarksville.  The Trojans come in ranked third and are 7-0 overall and 4-0 in District games while Clarksville is 1-6 overall and 0-4 in league play.  Kickoff from Clarksville will be at 7pm.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar football team will be at home tonight for a Class 1A District 2 game against MFL-Mar-Mac.  The Cougars are 2-5 overall and they are 2-3 in the District while MFL-Mar-Mac is 2-5 and 1-4.  Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 7:30.

The South Winneshiek Warrior football team will make the long trip to Lake Mills tonight for their Class 1A District 2 game.  Both teams come in with identical 5-2 overall records and 4-1 District records.  The winner of this game will almost certainly clinch a playoff berth as the number two seed in the District.  Kickoff for this one will be at 7pm.

The top-ranked North Fayette Valley Tiger-Hawk football team will put their undefeated record to the test tonight in what could be the biggest game in the state.  North Fayette will be at home to take on second ranked Union-LaPorte City.  Both teams are 7-0 overall and 5-0 in District play.  The winner of this number one vs. number two match-up will clinch a District title.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30.
