The New Hampton Chickasaw boys and girls cross country teams were in Oelwein last night competing in the Northeast Iowa Conference cross country meet.  The Chickasaws came in sixth place with a team score of 121.  Sophomore Nolan Usher was the top place-winner for New Hampton as he finished in twelfth place individually with a time of 17 minutes and 21 seconds.  Senior Jake Usher also placed in the top twenty for the Chickasaws as he came in sixteenth with a time of 17 minutes and 28 seconds.  On the girls side, New Hampton also placed in sixth as a team with a combined score of 154.  Junior Hannah Heit finished in 24th with a time of 21 minutes and 41 seconds for the Chickasaws and Sophomore Olivia Burke came in 25th as the top two finishers for New Hampton.  The Chickasaw boys and girls cross country teams will compete again next Thursday in their State Qualifying Meet which will be held in Garner.

In a match heard right here on 951 The Bull last night, the New Hampton Chickasaw volleyball team hosted Charles City in the Northeast Iowa Conference regular season finale.  The Chickasaws fell to the eighth ranked Comets three games to none by score of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-17.  The Chickasaws finish their regular season with a record of 24-5 and an NEIC record of 3-3.  New Hampton volleyball will be in Charles City this Saturday for the Northeast Iowa Conference tournament.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky volleyball team was in Hampton last night for a quadrangular meet with the Bulldogs, North Butler and Lake Mills.  The Huskies were able to go 2-1 last night.  Nashua beat Hampton two games to none by scores of 25-17 and 26-24 and got past North Butler two games to one by scores of 26-24, 16-25 and 17-15.  Nashua fell to fourth ranked Lake Mills two games to none by scores of 25-7 and 25-10.  The Husky volleyball team is now 5-18 overall this season and they will have a match at Dunkerton tomorrow night.

The Turkey Valley Trojan volleyball team was swept by Starmont last night in an Upper Iowa Conference road match three games to none.  Scores were 25-7, 25-9 and 25-9.  The Trojan volleyball team falls to 6-16 overall this season and their conference record is 2-6.  The Trojans will next be in action on Thursday in Rockford.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar volleyball team wrapped up their regular season last night with a North Iowa Cedar League sweep of Waterloo Columbus three games to none.  Scores went 25-15, 25-20 and 25-22.  The Cougars finish the 2016 regular season with an overall record of 30-5 and an NICL record of 7-2.

The North Fayette Valley volleyball team was able to sweep their way past South Winneshiek last night in West Union three games to none.  Scores went 27-15, 25-18 and 27-25.  North Fayette finishes their regular season with an overall record of 17-13 and a conference record of 7-2 while South Winn falls to 12-20 and 5-3.  Both teams will next be in action on Saturday in the Upper Iowa Conference tournament which will be hosted by West Central Maynard.
