Greene City Council Votes Down Rezoning For Possible Dollar General

Greene, Iowa – The city council of Greene voted against the rezoning of a residential area near Phelps Implement and County Road C13 at its meeting on Monday night. The rezoning was proposed to allow a Dollar General to be built at the location.

A large crowd was in attendance at the meeting and the council heard from some residents who opposed the rezoning.

Four of the five council members expressed concerns about the safety issue of the location and the influence of a commercial building located within a residential area.

The council voted to deny the rezoning of the location by a 5-0 vote.
