In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull on Friday night, the New Hampton Chickasaw football team hosted Crestwood in a Class 2A District 2 showdown.  The game delivered as advertised as these two unbeaten District teams battled all night.  New Hampton struck first with a touchdown in the opening minutes of the game.  Crestwood would take the lead for the first time with a touchdown later in quarter number one and were ahead 7-6.  The Chickasaws would score in the middle of the second quarter and led it 12-7 at halftime.  The score remained 12-7 until the fourth quarter when Crestwood regained the lead at 13-12 with five minutes left in the game.  New Hampton would score again and was successful on the two point conversion and led it 20-13 with three minutes to go.  The Cadets marched down the field and scored and needed the extra point to tie.  The Cadets decided to go for two and the win and quarterback Jon Henry was able to get the ball into the end zone and Crestwood won the game 21-20.  The loss for New Hampton was their first of the season as they are now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in District play.  The Chickasaws will look to get back on track this Friday at Osage.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky football team was at home Friday night as they welcomed in West Fork for a Class A District 3 match-up.  The Huskies would get two touchdowns in the game, but the War-Hawks found the end zone four times as they beat the Huskies 28-14.  The Husky football team drops to 2-3 overall on the season and they are now 1-2 in District play.  Next up for Nashua will be a road contest this Friday night at Grundy Center.

The Turkey Valley Trojan football team was able to stay unbeaten on Friday night as they took down Central Elkader in a top-ten, non-district match-up 42-20.  The Trojans were very balanced on offense as they had 144 yards passing and had five different players rush for over twenty yards and had 244 total rushing yards.  The win gives the Trojans a record of 6-0 on the season.  They will look to stay perfect this Friday night when the return to District play at home against Northwood-Kensett.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar football team had a tough time with seventh-ranked Denver at home in their Class 1A District 2 game.  The Cougars were on the losing end of a 42-12 score.  Sumner-Fredericksburg football falls to 2-4 overall this season and they drop to 2-2 in District play.  The Cougars will be on the road against South Winneshiek this Friday night.

The South Winneshiek Warrior football team kept their playoff hopes alive on Friday night as they were able to handle Central Springs rather easily as they took the game 34-6.  Rodney Schwartzhoff went off for 267 rushing yards and four touchdowns to lead the Warriors to the Class 1A District 2 victory.  South Winn is now 4-2 overall on the season and they improve to 3-1 in District play.  The Warriors will be at home this Friday night against Sumner-Fred.

The top-ranked North Fayette Valley football team continued its dominance on Friday night as they rolled past Dyersville Beckman at home in a Class 2A District four contest 42-7.  Trey and Tanner Kuhens each ran for over 100 yards in the victory and Tate Hovden ran for two scores as the Tiger-Hawks finished with close to 250 rushing yards.  North Fayette Valley is now 6-0 overall this season and they move to 4-0 in District play.  The Tiger-Hawks will look to stay unbeaten this Friday night when they travel to Waterloo to take on Columbus Catholic.
