October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Charles City, Iowa – October is breast cancer awareness month.

Wendy Burke, Radiology Director at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City said there’s many benefits to digital mammography.

Burke said early detection is very important.

A pink ribbon tree is currently on display at Floyd County Medical Center in honor or in memory of loved ones who have either fought or are fighting breast cancer.

Burke also said there’s a program that’s available to low-income women to receive a mammogram.

There is a donation box located near the Pink Ribbon Tree in the lobby of the hospital. All of the money collected will be donated to the Floyd County Cancer Friends, which provide monetary relief to any Floyd County resident who is going through treatment for any type of cancer.

The Pink Ribbon Tree will be displayed throughout the entire month of October.
