Self-Defense for Women Class in Greene

The Greene Public Library, together with the Greene Library Teen Board, is proud to sponsor “Self Defense for Women: Awareness and Action” on Saturday, February 10th from 9:00 am – noon at the Greene Community Center, located at 202 W. South Street. NIACC Professor Borden Plunkett will be instructing throughout the morning. Mr. Plunkett has instructed a self defense course at NIACC for almost 20 years. Additionally, he has 37 years of traditional Karate training, including a 5th Degree Black Belt in JKA Shotokan Karate and 3rd Degree Black Belt in Wado Ryu.
This class is free to women in the community and is aimed to promote awareness and action. It will introduce the topic of violence against women and instruct on tactics for avoidance. Additionally, Professor Plunkett will provide physical training in basic striking and kicking techniques. In consideration of all the above, participants must be 16 years of age or older and will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to participating.
Reservations must be made in person at the Greene Public Library, located at 231 W. Traer Street.
