Charles City News Director & On-Air Personality:

Employee must reside in the Charles City area

Duties:  Work with radio station personnel to assist in serving our listeners, serving our communities and serving our advertising clientele.  Job entails covering local and area news items, including press conferences, public meetings, community events & fundraisers and more.  Telephone and in-person interviews are a priority, with the focus on putting local voices on the air and on the radio station websites.  Other duties include voice-tracking radio shifts as an air personality, assisting with commercial writing and recording and audio production, and representing the radio stations throughout the community.

Hours:  Typically 7:00am to 4:00pm; some night and weekend hours will be required for news coverage, live broadcasts and community events

Skills necessary:  Writing and speaking skills are essential.  Additional training will be provided.  Familiarity with computer and broadcast equipment.  Ability to record and edit interviews and commercial recordings.  Ability to represent the radio station at community events and activities.

Salary:  Salary is based on prior experience, current skills and previous training.  Salary consists of base salary and additional earning potential for live broadcasts.   Company offers partially paid health insurance through Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Simple IRA Investment Plan, paid vacation, sick leave and family friendly work atmosphere.
