Osage volleyball 3A state champions for 1st time; 2nd school state champion in calendar year

The Osage Green Devils are dominating high school sports in 2020 – as of Thursday night, the high school has two state champions in one calendar year. The first one came in February when Osage wrestling won the 2A state championship.

Then yesterday, against the reigning state champions No. 3 Mount Vernon, the Green Devils won the 3A volleyball state championship in three straight sets.

This is the first time in program history that the Green Devils have won this game. This win was relieving for the girls as the last 4 years the team had made the tournament – though, they never quite could get past the semi-final round.

But Osage finally made the final round and won 25-6, 25-17, 25-20 with Dani Johnson leading the team with 16 kills and Ellie Bobinet having 39 assists.
