Chickasaw County Conservation to hold free kayak ‘river float’

Who wants to float down the Cedar River in a kayak for free? Chickasaw County Conservation is offering that very opportunity on September 1st at 6 p.m. The free float will start at the Nashua cedar River Access and will traverse the kayaks to the Pearl Rock Canoe Launch Site.

Conservationist Matt Crayne says it will be a pretty straightforward event.

Crayne also says that kayaking lends to easy social distancing.

If interested, the conservation team asks that you call ahead at 641-319-4717 so they know how many boats should be brought along. The team also says the float is both great for beginners and experienced kayak enthusiasts.

Finally, due to the pandemic, transportation to the Nashua Cedar River Access and from the Pearl Rock Canoe Launch Site must be supplied by the floater.
