Red Cross Blood Drive at Charles City YMCA July 31st to do coronavirus antibody testing

A lot of people have been saying a variation of this all year, ‘I think I had the coronavirus in December.’ Well, here is your opportunity to find that out – while at the same time giving back to a good cause. The American Red Cross is holding another summer blood drive on July 31st from noon to 5 p.m. at the Charles City YMCA.

According to volunteer Lilly Usher, the kicker is that ever person who successfully donates will find out the answer to two questions:

  • Do I currently have COVID-19?
  • Have I had COVID-19 in the past?

Usher says the Red Cross professions is putting on the drive for the blood donations – and that the COVID-19 testing is secondary.

As always, Usher says Red Cross is in dire need of donations in the summer months.

The blood drive will be the first event on the refurbished YMCA gym floor.
