New Hampton mayor weighs in on 1st Chickasaw County COVID-19 case; park closures

This week the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Chickasaw County popped up. New Hampton Mayor Bobby Schwickerath weighs in:

 

After the rapid growth in Iowa, Gov. Kim Reynolds shut down park equipment in Iowa and also allowed law enforcement to hand out misdemeanors to people who don’t adhere to the closings – but only on a last resort basis.

 

Bobby understands that the weather is getting hotter and being stuck in our homes is becoming less desirable – so he encourages New Hampton locals to walk the Mikkelson Trail when they feel cooped up. Though, he reminds everyone to stay out of the parks. 

Since Gov. Reynolds closed down even more businesses than before – i.e. the library – Bobby wants to assure businesses that the city will be attempting to back them.

 

Lastly, Bobby has a mayoral message for his citizens:
