The Nashua-Plainfield Husky softball team concluded their regular season with two games over the weekend.  On Friday night, they beat Lake Mills 14-4 in five innings and then lost at Hampton-Dumont on Saturday 7-2.  The Nashua softball team finishes the regular season with a record of 9-16.  They will have their first Class 2A Regional game tomorrow night at home against Belmond-Klemme.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky baseball team also had two games this weekend.  They were 12-6 winners over Lake Mills on Friday night and then they lost a 6-5 decision on Saturday to Hampton-Dumont.  The Husky baseball team is now 9-14 overall this season and they will have another game tonight when they host Tripoli.

The Turkey Valley Trojan baseball team was at home on Friday night for an Upper Iowa Conference double-header against North Fayette Valley.  The first game went to the Tiger-Hawks 11-8, but the Trojans came back to win the second game 6-1.  Evan Drilling had three hits and three runs scored in game one for Turkey Valley and Luke Anderson, Simon Schmitt and Carter Reicks each had two RBI.  In the second game, Cale Reicks pitched all seven innings for Turkey Valley, he gave up one unearned run and struck out six and Schmitt had a home run and two runs batted in.  With the split, the Trojan baseball team is now 10-16 overall and 7-8 in the conference.  They will play again tonight at home against Riceville.

The Turkey Valley Trojan softball team wrapped up their regular season on Friday night with a home non-conference game against Riceville.  The Wildcats scored six runs in the second innings and cruised to a 9-3 win over the Trojans.  Turkey Valley softball ends their regular season with a record of 12-21 and they will begin postseason play tonight.  They will be in a Class 1A Region 3 first round game in Gilbertville against Don Bosco.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar softball team also had their last regular season game on Friday night as they were in Monona for a non-conference game against MFL-Mar-Mac.  After giving up five runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extras, the Cougars were able to score a run in the eighth to regain the lead and won the game 8-7.  Tiffany Beyer, Krayton Allen and Kelsey Pagel all had three hits for the Cougars in the win.  The Sumner-Fred softball team ends their season with an overall record of 19-13 and they will play in the Class 2A Regional Quarter-Finals at home tomorrow night against this same MFL-Mar-Mac squad.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar baseball team was at home on Friday night for a North Iowa Cedar League double-header against Union-LaPorte City.  A five run fourth inning for the Cougars wasn’t enough as they dropped the first game 15-8.  Brady Wilkinson had three hits for Sumner-Fred in the first game and Blayze Quigley had two runs scored and two runs batted in.  In the second game, the Cougars were able to come away with a 9-5 win to earn the split.  Kelby Olson had two doubles and a triple, Brett Meyer scored three runs and Sam Fox had two home runs and four RBI to lead the Cougars to the win.  Sumner-Fred baseball is now 8-15 overall this season.
