Floyd County, Iowa- Weekend flooding has damaged nearly 400 miles of roads throughout Floyd County. At the Floyd County Supervisors meeting, County Engineer Dusten Rolando updated the conditions of the roads across Floyd County. Rolando says hard surface roads are the first priority.
Fixing the roads could take nearly two months. He says the wet weather pattern over the last couple of years is causing problems.
According to Rolando one of the issues has been the buildup of cornstalks blocking culverts. The blockage doesn’t allow for proper drainage of ditches.
Rolando is telling drivers to watch where they are going.
He estimates the total damage is near $400,000.
