951 The Bull Sports Report (5/31)

The New Hampton Chickasaw girls golf team wrapped up their 2018 Class 2A State Golf Meet yesterday at Lake Panorama Golf Course in Panora.  The Chickasaws came into Day 2 trailing Van Meter by 14 strokes in the team race and made a run at the title, but came up just three stroked short as they finished yesterday with a team total of 361 and finished the two day tournament with a combined score of 736.  Van Meter won the Class 2A State Title with a team score of 733.  Allison Nuss shot an 81 yesterday to finish with a 163 for the tournament which put her in 4th place individually.  Morgan Nuss carded an 88 yesterday for a two-day total of 174 which placed her in a tie for 11th.  Emma Ewert shot a 93 and Barbara Schwickerath improved her score from Tuesday by 18 strokes and shot a 99 yesterday to round out the scoring for New Hampton.  Congratulations to the Chickasaw girls golf team on an outstanding season and a Class 2A State Runner-Up finish.

Jaden Schwweinfus of South Winneshiek shot a 77 yesterday at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown for the Class 1A State Meet.  She moved up a couple of spots on the leader board to finish in a tie for second place overall.

The North Butler Bearcat baseball team hosted Nashua-Plainfield last night in a Top of Iowa Conference game.  The Bearcats scored a pair of runs in the first and sixth innings to come away with a 4-1 win.  The Nashua baseball team falls to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.  Their next game will be tomorrow night at home against North Union.

The Turkey Valley Trojan baseball team had their home game against Charles City postponed last night.  No make-up date has yet been announced.  The next game for the Trojans will be tonight at New Hampton.

The New Hampton Chickasaw softball team will be on the road tonight for a Northeast Iowa Conference double-header against Crestwood.  The Chickasaws are 4-0 overall this season and they are 4-0 in NEIC games as well.  The Cadets come in with an overall record of 3-2 and they are 2-2 in the conference.  You can tune into both games tonight right here on 951 The Bull starting with a pre-game at 5:15 and first pitch of the first game will be at 5:30.
