Marble Rock, Iowa – A Charles City man is dead following a 2-vehicle collision Thursday morning at around 8:25.

The Iowa State Patrol says a 2006 Buick Rendezvous driven by 72-year-old Harold Vermeer of Charles City, was traveling southbound on Packard Ave when he failed to stop at the stop sign at 270th Street, colliding with a westbound 1996 bus driven by 32-year-old Michael Katcher of Greene.

The report states that both drivers were wearing seat belts, however Vermeer was fatally injured. Katcher was transported to the Waverly Hospital with unknown injuries.

Assisting at the scene were the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Marble Rock Fire, AMR Ambulance, Charles City Fire and Iowa State Patrol.
