951 The Bull Sports Report (2/13)

In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull last night, the New Hampton Chickasaw boys basketball team was in Denver for their Class 2A District 6 Quarter-Final against Union-LaPorte City.  The Chickasaws jumped out to a 27-7 lead after the first quarter and were able to coast their way to a 60-37 win.  Keagan John led New Hampton with 15 points and Jake Zwanziger scored 13.  The Chickasaw boys improve to 12-10 overall this season and they will play in the District Semi-Finals on Thursday night at Aplington-Parkersburg.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar boys basketball team saw its season come to a close last night as they were defeated in a Class 2A District Quarter-Final by Oelwein.  The Huskies were able to beat Sumner-Fred by a final score of 67-45.  The Cougar boys end their season with a record of 3-19.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union will continue its basketball postseason tonight with Classes 1A and 2A holding Regional Quarter-Final match-ups.  The Nashua-Plainfield Husky girls basketball team will be in Jesup tonight for their Class 2A Region 3 Quarter-Final.  The Nashua girls come in with an overall record of 3-19 this season and Jesup is 12-9.  Tip-off for this game will be at 7pm.

The Turkey Valley Trojan girls basketball team will be at home tonight for their Class 1A Region 2 Quarter-Final against West Central Maynard.  The Trojans enter tonight’s game with an overall record of 13-9 while West Central comes in at 2-17.  Turkey Valley won both meetings between the two teams during the regular season as they won 56-47 on November 28th and then won 57-19 on January 19th.  Tip-off from Jackson Junction will be at 7pm.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar girls basketball team will be in Delhi tonight for their Class 2A Region 4 Quarter-Final against Maquoketa Valley.  The Cougar girls are 19-2 overall this season and will take on a Maquoketa Valley team who is 17-5.  This game is also set to begin at 7pm.

The South Winneshiek Warrior girls basketball team will be in Monona tonight for their Class 2A Region 4 Quarter-Final against MFL-Mar-Mac.  The Warrior girls come into the game with an overall record of 10-10 and MFL’s girls are 16-5.  These two teams split two games during the regular season with each team winning the home contest.  Tip-off for this one will be at 7pm as well.
