The Turkey Valley Trojan girls basketball team opened up their postseason tournament at home last night as they hosted Riceville in a Class 1A Region 2 opening round game.  The Trojan girls were able to advance to the Quarter-Finals by way of a 55-43 win.  Turkey Valley’s girls improve to 13-9 overall this season and will play again Tuesday night at home against West Central Maynard.

The South Winneshiek Warrior boys basketball team finished up their regular season last night with a non-conference game at Waukon.  The Warriors lost a shoot-out 90-71 to finish their season with a record of 13-8.  They will now shift their attention to the District Tournament as they will take on Postville next Thursday night.

The New Hampton Chickasaw boys basketball team will wrap-up their regular season tonight with a Northeast Iowa Conference home game against Waukon.  The Chickasaw boys are 11-9 overall this season and their record in the NEIC is 4-7 while the Waukon boys are 12-8 and 6-5.  You can tune into this game right here on 951 The Bull tonight starting with a pre-game at 7:30 and tip-off is scheduled for 7:45.

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union will hold opening round Regional games tomorrow night for Classes 2A and 3A.  The New Hampton Chickasaw girls basketball team will host Union-LaPorte City tomorrow night for a Class 3A Region 3 Quarter-Final.  The New Hampton girls are 11-10 overall this season while the Union girls are 5-16.  You can tune into tomorrow night’s game right here on 951 The Bull starting with a pre-game at 6:45 and tip-off will be at 7pm.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky girls basketball team will play at Denver tonight for their Class 2A Region 3 opener.  The Nashua girls are 2-19 overall this season while the Cyclone girls are 7-14.  Tip-off for this game will be at 7pm.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar girls basketball team will host Starmont tomorrow night in their Class 2A Region 4 opening round game.  The Cougar girls finished the regular season at 18-2 while Starmont ended the year at 4-17.  Tip-off from Sumner tomorrow night will be at 7pm.

The South Winneshiek Warrior girls basketball team will host Clayton Ridge tomorrow night for their opening round game in Class 2A Region 4.  The Warrior girls come into the game with an overall record of 9-10 while Clayton Ridge is 2-18.  This game is also set to begin at 7pm.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association will be holding District Wrestling Tournaments all over the state tomorrow with the top two individuals in each class advancing to the State Tournament next week in Des Moines.  The New Hampton Chickasaw wrestling team will be in Parkersburg for their Class 2A District Tournament and they will have 12 wrestlers competing at Districts.  They include: Johnny Dreckman at 106 pounds, Carson Babcock at 120, Mason Cleveland at 126, Max Babcock at 132, Michael Blockus at 138, Noah Fye at 145, Clayton Taylor at 152, Cale Reicks at 160, Noah Glaser at 170, Evan Rosonke at 182, Max Schwickerath at 195 and Areon Day at 220.  You can tune into all of the hold-by-hold action tomorrow right here on 951 The Bull starting with a pre-meet at 11:45 and the first matches will be at noon.

The Nashua-Plainfield, Sumner-Fredericksburg and South Winneshiek wrestling teams will be in Decorah at Luther College for their Class 1A District Tournament.  The Huskies will have four wrestlers competing in Districts and they are Brock Dietz at 106 pounds, Jakob Whitinger at 113, Tristan Brase at 145 and Nathan Dettmer at 195 pounds.  Representing Sumner-Fred will be Brady Wilkinson at 106 pounds, Weiland Steffan at 182 and Brock Meyer at 195.  South Winn will have nine wrestlers competing: Felicity Taylor at 106 pounds, Gabe Sadler at 120, Zach Taylor at 132, Logan Schnuelle at 138, Tanner Tollefsrud at 152, Manning Kuboushek at 182, Gabe Kipp at 195, Damon Meyer at 220 and Jackson Lukes at 285.  The first matches for this District Tournament tomorrow will also be at noon.
