Woman being held in Jail after Lottery Allegations

Janesville, IA – A woman has been arrested in northeast Iowa after cheating her way to winning on scratch-off lottery tickets several times.

28-year-old Stephany Hewitt of Janesville had allegedly broken into the Prime Mart on Nov. 13 and stole 24 scratch-off tickets. She would then go to turn the winning tickets in in the same clothing that she was wearing when she stole the tickets.

Hewitt was charged with 12 counts of lottery theft and one count of third-degree burglary after this incident. She was arrested on Jan. 24 and is being held in Black Hawk County Jail on a $33,000 bond.

She had another case where she had helped steal some lottery tickets in October of last year.
