Update: Four sent to hospital after collision on Avenue near Rudd

Rudd, Iowa – An Anamosa man has died from his injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision near Rudd last Thursday.

The Iowa State Patrol said initially that four people were taken to the hospital after the collision.

According to the accident report, a Cerro Gordo County Transit bus was heading eastbound on the Avenue and turned north to go into Rudd when the bus hit a westbound vehicle.

The driver of the westbound vehicle, 76-year-old Eugene Schipper of Anamosa was transported to the hospital where he later passed due to his injuries. There were also some minor injuries to some bus passengers.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the accident report, a Cerro Gordo County Transit bus was heading eastbound on the Avenue and turned north to go into Rudd when the bus hit a westbound vehicle.

No names have been released but the report says the 90-year-old driver of the westbound vehicle suffered serious injuries and one person on the bus suffered minor injuries.

All four people were taken to Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa for treatment.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Iowa Department of Transportation and the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
