Charles City, IA – Charles City Schools had guests visit Tuesday and they got to interact with students. The University of Northern Iowa brought two buses full of education students up to the school district for the day.
80 students and five staff members joined the Charles City classrooms. The goal of this day was to have these future teachers interact with students and other teachers. Vickie Robinson, associate vice president for educator preparation at UNI, says what inspired this trip.
UNI students took a lot from the visit on Tuesday. Sydney Redding, UNI sophomore, says what she took away from this experience.
This is the second year UNI has made this trip. Last school year the bus traveled down to Muscatine, Iowa. Shaylyn Trenkamp, UNI sophomore, says why she thinks Charles City was picked as the destination this year.
The number of students interested this year doubled for UNI. Robinson says that she was amazed that this many students recognized this opportunity.
These students visiting schools in Charles City also gave the district an opportunity to interact with any future employees.
