Prototype Classrooms at Charles City High School

Charles City, IA – The new Charles City Middle School has changed the way students learn. The classrooms are more open, allowing for students to work together. Charles City High School is working on doing the same thing to that building.

Many parties are coming together to build prototype classrooms before anything becomes official. Dr. Dan Cox, Charles City’s superintendent, says more.

The focus at the middle school is more project based learning which the high school is trying to adapt to. The goal was to have kids solve problems instead of having teachers just talk to them.

Dr. Cox says the plan is to have the teachers, students and community involved in this process, so they can have a finalized plan before it gets taken to a vote.

The talks to remodel the high school are gaining traction, so this is a good step to take in the process.
