951 The Bull Sports Report (10/2)

In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull Friday night, the New Hampton Chickasaw football team was in Cresco for a Class 2A District 2 game against the Cadets.  The New Hampton offense was unable to find any rhythm with their rushing game and gained just 31 yards on the ground in a 13-7 loss.  Keegan Kane scored the lone touchdown for the Chickasaws on a four yard run.  New Hampton had to rely on the passing game to move the ball and Keegan John had 85 yards passing, but it just wasn’t enough.  With the loss, the Chickasaws fall to 4-2 overall this season and they are 3-1 in the District.  They will look to get back on track this Friday at home against Osage.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky football team made it three wins in a row on Friday night as they beat West Fork 26-12 in Class A District 3 play on the road.  Husky quarterback Dayton Hansen threw for 183 yards and had a touchdown pass to Levi Enright and John Krull.  Tristan Brase rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown and Mason Hyde had 80 yards on the ground and a touchdown for the Huskies.  Nashua football improves to 4-2 on the season overall and they move to 3-1 in the District.  They will play at home this Friday night against Grundy Center.

The Turkey Valley Trojan football team picked up a win on Friday night without stepping foot onto the field.  Central Elkader elected to forfeit and give the Trojans their fourth win of the season.  Turkey Valley will return to District play this Friday night at Northwood-Kensett.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar football team was over-matched on Friday night in their Class 1A District 2 contest against Denver.  The Cougars were shut-out 48-0.  Sumner-Fred football is now 2-4 overall this season and their District record falls to 2-2.  They will host South Winneshiek this Friday night.

The South Winneshiek Warrior football team won their third game in a row on Friday night as they dismantled Central Springs 49-6.  Warrior Quarterback Hunter Todd completed nine passes for 216 yards and three touchdowns.  He threw TD passes to Brennan Holthaus, Cole Klimesh and Levi Lukes.  Rodney Schwartzhoff rushed for 150 yards on eight carries and scored three touchdowns and Braxton Smith had a touchdown run as well.  The Warriors improve to 3-3 overall this season and they move to 3-1 in Class 1A District 2.  They will travel to Sumner this Friday night to take on the Cougars.

The New Hampton Chickasaw volleyball team was in Charles City on Saturday for a tournament.  The Chickasaws went 2-2 at the tournament as they defeated South Tama and Oelwein, but were beaten by Wapsie Valley and Janesville.  The Chickasaws are now 19-5 overall this season and they will return to Northeast Iowa Conference play tomorrow night at home against Waverly.
