Osage, Iowa – 55 year old Scott Thompson of Mondovi, Wisconsin was sentenced in Mitchell County District Court on Tuesday following an investigation in which Thompson was charged with Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor and Dissemination and Exhibition of Obscene Material to a Minor, a serious misdemeanor.
Thompson is the owner and operator of My Town Pictures, with offices in Osage. An investigation began in August of 2015 after a report was made to the Cedar Rapids Police Department about a sexual abuse incident that occurred in Osage on August 6th of 2015 involving a 17 year old actress who was starring in one of Thompson’s film productions.
On February 7, 2017, Thompson filed guilty pleas in Mitchell County District Court, pleading guilty to an amended count of Simple Assault and to the original county of Dissemination of Obscene Material.
On Tuesday, Thompson was sentenced to serve 14 days in jail for the Simple Assault and 180 days in jail, with 90 days suspended, for the Dissemination and Exhibition of Obscene Material. In addition, he was sentenced to two years of probation and was ordered to register as a sex offender within the state of Iowa.
Thompson was taken into custody following Tuesday’s sentencing by the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Department.
The Osage Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Cedar Rapids Police Department, the Mason City Police Department, the Mitchell County Attorney’s Office and the Floyd County Attorney’s Office, who prosecuted the case.
