The Northeast Iowa Conference recently released its Boys Basketball All-Conference selections and three New Hampton Chickasaws were recognized. Sophomore Tristan Sweitzer was named to the Second Team and junior Keagan John and senior Zach Wemark received Honorable Mention. Sweitzer led New Hampton with 14 points per game and averaged a team-high 5 assists per game. John scored over 11 points per game, shot close to 60% from the floor and had a team-high 5.3 rebounds per game. Wemark scored ten points per game and had over four rebounds per game. The Chickasaws finished second in the NEIC with a conference record of 8-4.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union will continue its State Basketball Tournament today with the Class 1A, 2A and 3A Semi-Finals. The Turkey Valley Trojan girls will go up against Exira-Elk Horn Kimballton in one of the Class 1A Semis. The Trojan girls come in with an overall record of 21-2 and they are ranked second in the state while Exira comes in ranked third and is 23-1. Tip-off for this game is scheduled for 11:45. The other Class 1A Semi-Final will feature Springville against Kingsley-Pierson. In 2A, Iowa City Regina will go up against Western Christian and Treynor will square off against Cascade. The 3A Semis will feature Sioux Center against Cherokee and Center Point-Urbana against Pocahontas Area.
