951 The Bull Sports Report (2/27)

The The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union begins its State Basketball Tournament today with the Class 1A and 2A Quarter-Finals.  The Turkey Valley Trojan girls basketball team will take on Janesville in the opening round.  Turkey Valley’s girls are ranked 2nd in Class 2A and come in with an overall record of 21-2 while Janesville is ranked 9th and are undefeated this season with a record of 24-0.  Tip-off for this game from the Wells Fargo Arena will be at 1:30.  Class 3A and half of the Class 4A Quarter-Finals will be tomorrow and the rest of the Quarter-Finals will be played on Wednesday.  The Semi-Finals will be played Thursday and Friday and the State Finals will be held on Saturday.  All games will be played at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull on Saturday, the Iowa Hawkeye Men’s Basketball team was on the road taking on Maryland.  The good Hawkeye basketball team showed up for that game as the Iowa Men defeated the Terrapins 83-69.  Jordan Bohannon led the Hawks with 24 points, Tyler Cook had 21 and Peter Jok and Nicholas Baer each had 11.  The Hawkeye Men’s Basketball team is now 16-13 overall and they even up their Big Ten record at 8-8.  They will be in action again on Thursday night at Wisconsin.
