New Hampton Wrestling Team Claims State Dual Title

The top-ranked New Hampton Chickasaw wrestling team competed at the State Duals yesterday in Des Moines and you heard all matches right here on 951 The Bull.  After defeating Denver-Tripoli in the Quarter-Finals 51-23 and then beating Davenport Assumption 46-24 in the Semi-Finals, the Chickasaws squared off against second-ranked Solon in the Finals.  After taking a 31-11 lead, Chickasaw senior Noah Hopp had his match at 220 pounds.

That was The Big Guy Neal Stone and Tyler Boos with the call.  The Chickasaws would end up winning the match by a final score of 45-23.  Although New Hampton was the top-seed at the tournament, there were no guarantees coming in and head Chickasaw wrestling Coach Nick Hemann was a bit shocked at the result.

Coach Hemann was quick to thank the community of New Hampton for their support and says the State Title is not just the team’s.

The State Individual wrestling tournament begins today and we will have live hold-by-hold coverage of the Class 2A Meet.  The Big Guy and Tyler Boos will follow local wrestlers Michael Millage, Noah Fye, Keaton Geerts, Ryan Gorman, Noah Glaser, and Noah Hopp of New Hampton and North Fayette Valley’s Jordan Baumler and Ethan Lape.  Pre-meet is scheduled for 5:30 and the first matches are at 6pm.  951 The Bull will also have live updates of the area wrestlers competing in the Class 1A first round and first round consolations.  We will cover Karsen Seehase and Bodie Garnier of Sumner-Fredericksburg and South Winn’s Manning Kubousek.  The Class 1A session begins at 1:30.
