North Iowans continue to be hammered by the flu

New Hampton, Iowa – The influenza strain continues around North Iowa.

Mercy Medical Center Public Relations Director Jenny Monteith  says the worst strain is not the stomach flu but upper respiratory infection. However norovirus and strep throat are also being spread throughout the area.

Monteith says the symptoms for influenza come on pretty quickly.

Monteith advises people displaying symptoms of influenza to wear a mask and make sure to make an appointment to be seen at the clinic.

Monteith said all the information about influenza is on the Mercy New Hampton facebook page and on the Mercy website. She this strain on influenza is nothing to mess around with.
