951 The Bull Sports Report (2/14)

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky boys basketball team was at home last night as they opened up Class 1A District 5 play.  The Nashua boys were able to walk away with the 42-40 win and continue their season.  The Husky boys are now 7-15 overall on the season and they will play in the District Quarterfinals on Thursday night.  Nashua will take on Don Bosco at AGWSR High School.

The South Winneshiek Warrior and Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar boys basketball teams matched up against each other last night in a Class 2A District 4 Quarter-Final.  The game was close throughout, but in the end it was South Winn who picked up the 71-68 win.  Hunter Todd and Levi Lukes led the Warriors as they each had 22 points, Cole Klimesh had 13 and Nathan Ward had 12.  South Winn’s boys improve to 6-16 overall this season and will play in the District Semis on Thursday night at Osage.  Sumner-Fred’s boys finish their season with a record of 5-17.

The Turkey Valley Trojan girls basketball team will begin their postseason tonight with a Class 1A Region 3 Quarter-Final at home.  The Trojan girls will host Mason City Newman Catholic.  The Turkey Valley girls come in with a record of 18-2 while the Newman girls enter tonight’s game at 11-11.  Tip-off from Jackson Junction will be at 7pm.

The Sumner-Fredericksburg Cougar girls basketball team will continue their postseason tournament tonight.  The Cougar girls will be at Grundy Center for a Class 2A Region 5 Quarterfinal.  The Sumner-Fred girls are 18-4 this season while Grundy Center’s girls are 18-2.  Grundy Center won the only meeting between these two teams back on January 5th.  Tip-off tonight from Grundy Center will be at 7pm.
