951 The Bull Sports Report (1/20)

In a couple of matches heard right here on 951 The Bull last night, the New Hampton Chickasaw wrestlers hosted a triangular meet with Decorah and Osage.  The New Hampton grapplers dominated both matches as they defeated Decorah in a Northeast Iowa Conference dual 63-12 and beat Osage in non-conference action 70-9.  The two wins gives the Chickasaws an overall dual meet record of 25-2 and they finish dual meet champions of the NEIC with a perfect 6-0 record.  The Chickasaw wrestlers will be in action again this weekend as they will take part in a tournament in Corning which begins today.

The Nashua-Plainfield Husky wrestling team went 1-1 last night at a triangular meet hosted by  North Butler.  The Huskies were able to defeat Clarksville 54-18, but lost to North Butler 39-33.  The Husky wrestling team will head back to North Butler tomorrow for a tournament.

The Nashua-Plainfield girls basketball team was blown out last night in their Top of Iowa Conference game at Mason City Newman.  The final score was 77-37 as the Husky girls fall to 2-11 overall and 1-9 in conference play.  Nashua’s girls will be back in action tonight at Central Springs.  The Nashua-Plainfield boys basketball team also fell to Mason City Newman last night as they were beaten 61-43.  The Nashua boys are now 4-8 overall and they fall to 3-7 in Top of Iowa Conference games.  They will play again tonight at Central Springs.

The Turkey Valley boys basketball team hosted Sumner-Fredericksburg in non-conference action last night.  The Sumner-Fred boys were able to pick up their third win in a row as they beat the Trojans 61-54.  The Cougar boys improve to 4-8 overall this season and they will be back in action tonight at Jesup.  The Turkey Valley boys fall to 8-6 overall and they will look to get back on track tonight at home against West Central Maynard.

The Turkey Valley Trojan girls basketball team was also at home last night as they too hosted Sumner-Fredericksburg in a non-conference match-up.  The Trojan girls were dominant on both ends of the floor as they were able to snap a two-game losing skid by winning 54-27.  The Trojan girls improve to 12-2 overall this season and they will host West Central Maynard tonight in an Upper Iowa Conference game.  The Cougar girls fall to 11-3 overall this season and they will be on the road tonight for a North Iowa Cedar League game against Jesup.

The South Winneshiek girls basketball team was at Waukon last night for a non-conference game against the Indians.  The Warrior girls would fall to Waukon 40-29 to drop to 2-11 overall this season.  Next up for the Warrior girls will be a home game tomorrow against Wapsie Valley.

The New Hampton Chickasaw girls and boys basketball teams will be in non-conference action tonight as both teams will travel to Denver to take on the Cyclones.  The Chickasaw girls come in at 8-3 overall this season while the Denver girls are 2-8.  The New Hampton boys enter tonight’s game with a 5-5 record while the Cyclone boys are 4-6.  You can tune into both of these games right here on 951 The Bull as pregame will start at 6:15.  The girls will tip-off at about 6:30 and the boys game will follow.
