KCZE Weekend Sports Recap (10/12)

In a game heard right here on 951 The Bull Friday night, the New Hampton Chickasaw football team was in a Class 2A District 3 match up with Waukon.  The Chickasaws were overmatched and 46-13.  Trevor Ambrose accounted for the majority of the Chickasaw offense as he ran for 133 yards and scored the two touchdowns.  The loss was the first for New Hampton in District play as they fell to 4-3 overall and they are now 3-1 in the District.  They will look to get back into the win column this Friday night against Dyersville Beckman Catholic.

The Nashua Plainfield Husky football team was at Mason City Newman Catholic Friday night in a Class A District 3 contest.  The Nashua offense had success, but their defense was unable to get stops and the Huskies were beat 58-31.  Nashua quarterback Jason Fisher was involved in all five of the Husky touchdowns as he threw for two and ran for three.  The two touchdown passes went to Zach Bond and John Krull.  Fisher ended up with 149 rushing yards which included a 96 yard TD run.  Nashua football drops to 1-6 on the season and they are now 1-3 in District play and will travel to Belmond Klemme this Friday night.

The Turkey Valley Trojans were able to claim a non-district win in an 8 man offensive battle with Midland, Wyoming on Friday night 54-48.  Trojan quarterback Cody Hackman was able to throw two touchdown passes and rushed for two more in the game.  Wyatt Blazek and Will Einwalter each had a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the win.  The Trojans are now 5-2 overall this season and they will return to District play this Friday night against Cedar Valley Christian.

The Sumner Fredericksburg Cougar football team lost their Class 1A District 4 game against Jesup at home by a score of 34-7.  The Cougars drop to 4-3 on the season and they are now 1-3 in District play.  The Cougars will look to get back on track this Friday night at Dike-New Hartford.

The South Winneshiek Warrior football team was defeated in a battle of top ten teams on Friday night at the hands of Dike New Hartford by the score of 23-0.  The Warriors were only able to muster 83 yards of total offense against the stout Wolverine defense.  South Winn is now 5-2 on the season and fall to 3-1 in Class 1A District 4 games.  The Warriors will be up against Clayton Ridge-Guttenberg on the road this Friday night.

The North Fayette Valley Tigerhawk football team was able to take care of Osage on Friday night in non-district play by the score of 49-28.  Jesse Mackey was able to rush for 120 yards and four touchdowns for North Fayette and Dillon Baumler, Jared Kerr and Trey Kuhens also had rushing touchdowns for the TIgerhawks.  North Fayette Valley football improves to 5-2 overall with the win and they will return to Class 2A District 3 action this Friday night with a home game against Waterloo Columbus Catholic.

The New Hampton Chickasaw volleyball team went a perfect 5-0 at the BCLUW tournament on Saturday without dropping a single set.  The Chickasaws were 2-0 winners over East Marshall, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Meskwaki, North Fayette Valley and BCLUW.  New Hampton volleyball is now 22-5 overall this season and they will wrap up Northeast Iowa Conference play tomorrow night at Charles City.
