North Iowa Broadcaster receives IBA Hall of Fame Award

Tony Coloff

DES MOINES, IA – The Iowa Broadcasters Association held their 64th Annual Convention on Thursday and named Tony Coloff of Forest City as the latest member of their Hall of Fame. Tony Coloff and his wife Sue co founded KIOW in Forest City, Iowa over 35 yrs ago. Coloff said he was taken completely by surprise and had in fact nominated someone else:

The Coloffs, who now own 11 stations across north Iowa including KCHA in Charles City and New Hamptons KCZE, have always been very modest. It was noted that he had been in broadcasting for 55 years and Coloff said he was deeply honored and felt that others were more deserving than himself:

Jim Coloff who grew up in the business and is now co owner with his parents was on hand to present the award to his father and said it wasn’t easy making it a surprise but he had some expert help:

Jim Coloff accepted the gavel as the new President of the Iowa Broadcasters Association for 2014, a role his father had in 2002. The 64th Annual Iowa Broadcasters Association Summer Convention was held Thursday in West Des Moines. Congratulations to the Coloff Family.
