Update: Additional Charges Filed After Chase and Stand-off Last Weekend

Charles City, IA – More charges were filed Friday against a Charles City man after a high-speed chase and standoff last weekend. According to the Charles City Police Department, 21 year old Franklin Foster was charged with littering upon a public highway (simple misdemeanor), manner of firearm conveyance (simple misdemeanor), 4 counts of felon in possession of a firearm (each class D felonies), possession of stolen property for the motor vehicle (class D felony) and third degree criminal mischief for breaking windows out of the vehicle during the stand-off (aggravated misdemeanor). Foster remains in the Floyd County Jail with a bond set at $43,200.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department says Foster was charged with felony eluding, assault on a peace officer, failure to obey a stop sign and driving while suspended.

Deputies say the incident began when officers with the Charles City Police Department attempted to stop the vehicle Foster was driving. He then fled which lead officers into Bremer County and the chase ended in a standoff near Waverly.

No other details were released by the sheriff’s office.
