Ardis “Dee” Murray, 83, Charles City

Ardis “Dee” Murray, 83, of Charles City, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the 9thStreet Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A memorial service for Dee Murray will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Hauser Funeral Home.  Pastor Forrest Cornelius of First Congregational Church will officiate.  Inurnment will be at a later date.

The family will greet friends Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time.

Ardis Ann Carter Murray was born September 20, 1930, at Sloan, the daughter of Dewey and Ila (Stephens) Carter.  She graduated from high school at Sioux City.  On December 18, 1958, she was united in marriage to Ned Murray at Lincoln, Nebr.  They spend most of their lives in Estes Park, Colo. where they owned and operated Olympus Lodge and Heidi House and where Dee also worked at First National Bank.  She was a member of First Congregational Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  Her interests included sewing, knitting, baking and reading.  Family was always very important to Dee and she looked forward to sharing life with them, especially her granddaughter.

Living family members include four children, Cindy (Gene) Labounty of Charles City, Mike (Kathy) Murray of Erie, Colo., Pat (Nicki) Murray and Sean (Theresa) Murray both of Estes Park, Colo.; four grandchildren, Lori Estlund, Harlie Murray, Bryan Murray and Kim Swanstrom; and two great grandchildren, Bryant Estlund and Mandy Swanstrom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ned on November 18, 1898; and two grandsons, Brent and Eric Murray.
