Police investigate apparent killing in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Des Moines police are investigating the apparent killing of a 57-year-old woman on the city’s eastside.

Police say officers were called to a home at 2:14 p.m. Sunday after a relative found the person unresponsive on the floor.

Police and medics who responded found the person dead.

Police didn’t identify the victim, but Sgt. Jason Halifax told the Des Moines Register the victim was a woman and there were obvious signs of trauma.

Police took witnesses to the police station for interviews.
