Flowers for Me?

CHARLES CITY- Flowers are often an iconic symbol associated with Valentine’s Day.  According to, approximately 110 million roses, the majority red, will be sold and delivered within a three-day time period.   Christopher Anthony, manager of Otto’s Oasis in Charles City, says it is important, as a florist, to plan ahead for the Valentine’s Day rush.

Anthony says roses are still a favorite when it comes to flower ordering, but over the years he has seen other types of flowers become popular.

For people who prefer to stick to roses, Anthony says different color roses carry different meanings.

Whether you plan to purchase roses, daisies, or tulips for a loved one this Valentine’s Day, Anthony says it is important to place orders ahead of time to ensure that flowers are in stock.  Otto’s Oasis can be reached at 228-6193.
